Cape Town Stadium.

The old Green Point Stadium
The old Green Point Stadium as I stated in an earlier blog was one of the first things to be taken down by the constructors of the nw Cape town Stadium.

Part of the old athletic track
The southern half of the stadium and its stands were removed and the stands to the north of the stadium were kept and used as offices and a visitors center while the new stadium was being built.
The grass pitch and the athletic track were used to keep construction materials.
Now that the new stadium has been completed the constructors yard has been cleared and the wall which used to be around the old stadium has been removed.
The north stands which I thought would be destroyed have actually been kept and appear to have been upgraded.
At least some of the history of the old Green point Stadium will be kept for posterity.
Below are some of the pictures I took during the breaking down stages of the old stadium, the builders yard and as it looks today now that construction is nearly complete.
